Choosing the right foundation for your hot tub is imperative. Choosing the wrong place to put your hot tub can lead to a number of long-term issues. Placing your hot tub in the wrong spot will inevitably lead to a very expensive repair bill, create an unsafe environment for you and your loved ones, and in some cases, even make your hot tub unusable. However, understanding your options for hot tub foundations will give you the knowledge to avoid these incidents.
Concrete is the best option for a hot tub foundation. Concrete is strong and provides enough support to your hot tub, which weighs a tremendous amount. People who opt for a concrete foundation typically have the concrete poured as part of a patio, but it’s possible to have a slab of concrete poured specifically for your hot tub if this is the option you like the most.

Hot Tubs are Heavy when they are filled with water! A small 4-person Hot tub weighs about 3,710 pounds (For water capacity, 1 gallon of water is approximately 8.34 pounds, and an average weight of 180 pounds per person can be used.) For example, a 4 person, 42 sq foot, 278-gallon hot tub filled with water and bathers would weigh approximately 3,710 pounds. This is more than some trucks. If you have a larger Hot tub, you need to make sure the Concrete hot tub foundation can handle the weight. You don’t want it to crack under pressure. We build our Concrete Hot tub pads to withstand the test of time. We cater our concrete spaces to the type and size of the hot tub. We typically pour 2-inch gravel layers and compact this layer, so it’s nice and strong. Then we will pour 8-12 inches on concrete with rebar or wire mesh. In all of our concrete projects, we use a product called fiber that is mixed in with the concrete, and it is this synthetic rebar that gives the concrete the additional strength to withstand the test of time.
